Where do I start here?

Hey! So I’m guessing you’re a bit confused about the whole site and how it works.

First things first…

Do you not know how to crochet?

You should definitely start with Crocheting 101: How to Crochet for Complete Beginners, a full book I made to help even the most yarn illiterate learn how to crochet. It’s totally for free too.

Jump the Crocheting 101 here

I know how to crochet already. Now what?

Well, since you know how to crochet why don’t you make something! You can check out all the free patterns over in the Crocheting 101 tab on the left. There’s a bunch of patterns there like a Bowtie, Hacky Sack, and Classic Beanie, with new patterns and projects added every month.

Or check out any of the more advanced patterns over in the Club Crochet Library. You’ll need a membership though, which start at $5/month. The Club Crochet Library is updated every month with new patterns and projects. Oh and every pattern has its own, full length video tutorial, to help you through any of the more difficult parts.

Why do some patterns say “Tangled”?

You may notice that some patterns are “Tangled”. This means that they take some pre-requisites before you can access them. Some tangled patterns want you to finish a different pattern before you can start, or maybe you’ll need to have a certain amount of points first!

Points?

Yah! You’re awarded points for doing certain things on this site like finishing patterns, commenting on projects, and replying in forums!

How do I finish a pattern?

You’ll have to complete all the lessons to finish a pattern. There will be a few ways to complete lessons, depending on the pattern. There’s often an option to just click “Mark Complete”. Some patterns will require you to upload a photo of the finished project, these are usually for patterns that untangle another pattern in the library.

What if I don’t really want to crochet right now?

Check out Groups tab to find crocheting based groups! These are forums to talk about really whatever you want, share projects, get help, ask for directions to your nearest supermarket, really whatever you want!

Here are some that I started…

Book n’ Hook Club: where we’ll be talking about books and be doing a monthly audio book club while we crochet!

While I Crochet: Things you enjoy doing while you’re crocheting! Share and discuss playlists, audio books, tv, movies… really whatever as long as you can crochet while doing it!

Off the Hook: A place to talk about everything that doesn’t have to do with crocheting!

Or suggest a group of your own in the forum here: https://members.clubcrochet.com/groups/site-stuff/forum/topic/suggest-a-group/

What if I don’t have the right materials to start a project?

A lot of the patterns require specific colors or types of yarn, and hook sizes to make them. If you don’t have the yarn you need, check out the Kits tab on the left where you’ll probably be able to get the yarn you need.

  1. I’m a bit confused. Does the Pro membership automatically get the kits each month or do I have to pay for those separately?
